I AM A GEEK! by The Society for Geek Advancement

Though it’s very trendy to be a geek now, this movement is for the native geeks.

It’s already been reblogged a million times, but I suppose that’s a testament to how cool this street art is. Love it!

Want to start blogging, but skip the set-up/design process/learning nitty gritty coding? There’s a new tool called Twitblogs that lets you blog through your Twitter account. Basically, you’d login to Twitblogs with your Twitter username/password and post without the 140 character limit (also lets you add video/images). It then tweets the link to your Twitter account – simple enough, right?

Whether you’re looking to share content beyond 140 characters or you’re considering a company blog – this is a great tool with a nice and easy streamlined process. What I love most about it for potential PR use is that it could completely replace the need for a press release. If all your brand’s core media are followers – a post through Twitblogs could be the simplest, most efficient way to get the word out.

Volunteer event adds digital aspect

Last weekend I was a volunteer at Comcast Cares Day. While an army of volunteers and Americorps workers helped clean up Magnuson Park in Seattle, I participated in the Voluntweetup portion of the event.

About a dozen of us were set up in the media tent, where we were paired up with leaders of nonprofit groups who were looking for information and advice about how to incorporate social media into their work.

It was a lot of fun and I’m sure the group leaders went back to their organizations with plenty of ideas for integrating social media into the good they do every day.
